The Kansas City Children's Haven

Today is a sweet sweet day for me. Today I hold in my hands a beautiful document with signature and approval of Sen of State Robin Carnahan enstating The Kansas City Children's Haven a true corporation.

This is a year and a half in coming. A year and a half ago I began to dream up a place for the orphaned in KC to find a home. It has been a year and a half of watching impossibilities become realities....so many more impossibilities ahead to conquer. TODAY I STOP TO CELEBRATE!!!!!

Oh...what is The Kansas City Children's Haven?

It is a soon to be opened day center in the inner city of KC,MO meant to reach children considered to be at risk in our city. Homeless, foster care, and single parent families below poverty level. It will start out as a 12 hour day center for preschool aged children. It will be a non-profit, in which any profit will be given to scholarships for the children. They will be taught with the quality of a private preschool, but at no great expense to them. The will be daily wrapped in the love of Christ and be found experiencing His great love for them.....

So what's happened so far? Those impossibilites turned real?

Examples of Goodness:

Board members so to become a non-profit: Got them!
Non-profit status, didn't know how to go about it: UMKC law dept is filing it all for me: FOR FREE!

Business minds(b/c yes I am a "mama," and no I am not a business woman: A kind man from the BR in the business program at UMKC is submitting it for review and scrutiny- this is actually a good thing because they will then tell me what about my plan seems feesable and what needs tweaking.

Filing articles of incorporation: In hand today!

And for prayer, here is the current "impossibility" (Nothing is impossible! It is actually quite probable!):
FUNDING! I need it! I do not know how to go after it. I open my hands to receive!

Amanda, I know that you haven't updated on the Haven lately. I was curious how it is coming along. I was so excited to hear about this. I told all my family members about it. I even dreamt of bringing my children down and playing with the others. You are such a blessing on earth. I hope to hear more soon.
